Maker Stories

I had been sitting on the idea since the early 2000’s, after making a few batches of sauces from the garden harvest. I was living with my uncle and godfather, Chris, and we would plant and tend to the garden.
Around a year ago I had the opportunity of eating a fresh Carolina reaper pepper. I have been a hot sauce fanatic ever since I was a kid; and Javier had been eating them for a while now. My oldest friend and business partner Javier Duran turned me on to a local grower.
During the summer of 2014, my Dad grew some golden ghost peppers in our garden. These were some really tasty, fruity and hot peppers. When I first tasted them the heat built up gradually for a minute and the sweet flavor evolved with the heat.
I didn’t start making hot sauce until I started farming. Before then, I had made salsa in culinary school but hadn’t really dabbled in hot sauce. I had a farmer’s market stand in Topeka, Kansas for a little over four years.

It was a great experience growing up next to my grandfather. As a young boy, I was taught how to grow all kinds of vegetables, trees, roses, and fruit. He was a great gardener from Italy, and I tried to follow in his footsteps.
Since I was a young boy, I've always loved spicy food. My parents were always adventurous eaters, and I grew up eating a wide variety of cuisine from around the world. Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Middle Eastern, Szechuan, Hunan, Sri Lankan, Mexican of varying regions, El Salvadorian, etc.

I've always been a hot sauce and spicy food lover, but I could never quite find just the "right" sauce for my tastes, so I started making my own for myself and family. After a while I started to get offers from strangers to buy my sauces so I started a small business from that.
My passion for hot sauce came from my passion for cooking and entertaining. My team & I love to eat and love spicy food even more! What started out as a table sauce for a dinner party turned into a growing business specializing in bold & unique flavor profiles.
