Maker Story: Rising Smoke Sauceworks founder Mike grew up in a divided household when it came to spicy foods. His father was a devoted lover of heat while his mother did not enjoy meals accompanied by mouth-burning spice. In their kitchen, there would often be two different versions of the same meal being prepared.
As an adult, Mike started growing peppers on his bedroom windowsill and was amazed at the overwhelming variety of flavors that his peppers provided. When he relocated to North Carolina, the first thing he did was install a garden that would allow him to harvest lots and lots of peppers.
A few months later, after having more peppers than he could consume himself, Mike decided to take a stab at making hot sauce. From the onset, Mike was a mad scientist in the kitchen, trying all kinds of wacky combinations and flavors in his hot sauces. Today, Mike has built a line of unique and delicious hot sauces that will satisfy (and set on fire) almost any hot sauce aficionado.
