About the Sauce

While Derek Zoolander says it's not very well ventilated down in the coal mine, the poblanos get their own treatment getting charred to bring a wholesome smoky flavor to this mild hot sauce.  For those that are fans of poblano peppers, this is a tasty unique take made with local North Carolina poblanos.

Uses: This sauce brings great flavor to chicken and sandwiches. You can almost use it as a spread since it brings a lot of sweet and smoky flavor without too much heat.

Heat: Mild

Ingredients: Local charred poblano peppers, white vinegar, local onion, salt, local honey, garlic.

Size: 5 oz Bottle

Maker Story: Julz grew up as a hot sauce wimp, but in her 20s and 30s she become quite the aficionado.  Her go-to hot condiments at home are Sriracha, El Yucateco green habanero (what she just calls “the green stuff”) and Sichuan chili flakes when she makes spicy Sichuan Chinese and wants to numb her tongues.  Of course, she has numerous other bottles for different occasions.

Julz's number one pet peeve is sauces that only exist to pound on your tongue with a sledgehammer.  No other flavor, nothing else going on. Just straight pain.

Julz's Creations number one priority is to give the hot sauces depth of flavor, something that will complement your food and make it tastier.

Beyond wanting great flavor, Julz utilizes local North Carolina produce in her products as much as she can.  There are so many great farms and farmers in her area that she wants to support. This limits her seasonally, but luckily in the southeast the growing season is a bit longer.
